Today is the first day I have used only the MSI Wind Netbook and cloud applications. I have to say that is has been a little bit of a transition. For instance I really liked an image that I have in my Picasa photo library and only wanted to cut out a small portion to use and I couldn't use my typical keyboard shortcut, apple+shift+4 to do an isolated screen capture. Very simple and typical everyday use for me that forced me to use something else. Not a big deal!
So...today I started out by my day by checking and responding to my email. I am using gmail and love it. It has been just the right web-based email app for me. From the amount of storeage it offers to ability to be able to pull from various email accounts and tag which account they came from. So, if I want to have my three personal email accounts and work email pulled into my gmail I can. So much easier than checking all the different accounts.
I have setup my web browswer (Firefox) with the Firefox Add-on, speeddial. Speed dial allows me to create direct access to my most favorite website and in this case my most favorite cloud applications. Right now I am planning on demoing quite a few different apps. Just to start you can see the list below:
- Google Cloud Apps
- Docs
- Spreadsheets
- Presentation
- Picasa
- gmail
- g.ho.st
- Slide Rocket
- Zoho
- Docs
- Sheets
- Show
- Think Free
- 21 Classes
- Word Press
- Ajax Windows
- Cebase
- Joomla
- Profiler Pro
- JumpCut
These are the first dozen I will be testing out to see which ones could potentially replace my current apps such as MS Office so on...

Jon - I love what you are doing here and I look forward to hearing how the experiment works out. It must be hard moving from a Mac to a PC/Cloud apps only.
Are there some good options for when you are offline and need to work?

Will- Thanks for your interest. To answer your question on options for working offline. Many of the cloud applications allow you to download a version of your document for the purpose of working offline as well as providing a more traditional way of backing up your documents. You can store them on your computer's hard drive or flash drive. Hope this helps and thanks again for your great question.
